About LeaveCheck

LeaveCheck is a trust-first FMLA eligibility explainer. It is built to help someone structure the first conversation, not replace legal advice or an employer-specific determination.

Our methodology mirrors the core eligibility questions that come up again and again: is the employer covered, has the employee worked long enough, were there enough actual hours worked in the prior 12 months, and does the leave reason fit a common FMLA category. We separate those modules so users can see which fact is actually driving the answer instead of receiving a black-box yes or no.

Every rule-backed statement on the site is tied to Department of Labor source material and labeled as of February 2025. When a fact is changeable or user-specific, we keep it editable in the flow instead of burying a magic number or hidden assumption in code. That helps the tool stay useful over time, and it helps users understand what they still need to verify from payroll, HR, or counsel.
